Chris and I recently took Janet to the vet to check out a lump on the little kitty’s hindquarters. The vet tech aspirated a sample of the lumpy stuff and the vet decided to send it out for testing. We still haven’t heard from the clinic; however, the lump is progressively shrinking. After hearing many of your experiences, we feel pretty certain the lump is a result of a vaccination she was given at the rescue the day before we adopted her.
This post isn’t about lumps, but I want to give you all the most recent 411 on the situation. Thanks for your questions, comments, and generally awesome support.
The real reason for this post is to share a conversation I overheard between Chris and Janet. It happened on the way back from the aforementioned veterinary appointments, so I decided to wrap everything up together in a happy, shrinking-lump, adorable fiancé, tortie package.
Our apartment building is connected to the parking garage through a skyway. For those of you who aren’t aware of this magnificent invention, it’s walkway that connects two structures so one doesn’t have to walk outside in eyeball-freezing temps. The skyway that connects our building to the garage has windows on either side, so one can enjoy a pretty view of downtown Minneapolis whilst one’s eyeballs stay toasty warm.
Really, the story’s coming right up.
So Chris was carrying Janet in her carrier through the skyway and I was following closely behind. Then he starts having this conversation with her:
********
Chris: “Look, Janet — there’s the Government Center.” (as he’s holding the carrier up to the window so she can fully enjoy the experience)
Chris: “Look, Janet — there’s a swimming pool.” (again holding her close to the window)
Janet: “Mew!”
Chris: “I know!”
*******
That’s it. Perhaps you were expecting a more extensive exchange between the two, but this is all I have and I think it’s pretty darn cute. Hey, it’s almost two weeks later and I’m still thinking about it.
Be well, keep your eyeballs warm, and I’ll let you know when I hear any news from the vet regarding “The Case of the Shrinking Lump.”
